A swift half hour dash over to this spot which I'd figured out by looking at fotopic sites and pouring over OS maps. Just made it for this one with roadworks everywhere. It's a good spot even though the sun didn't think so today.

Pean/Plane or 'Cockabendies' Castle can be seen in the background. Following history from Plean School website:

1440 Sir William d`Erth left the baronies of Plane, Airth to his daughters, It was originally 3 storeys tall with a garret.
1449 Lady Elizabeth married Thomas Somervell they built the tower. A manor house was built adjacent around 1528.
1643 James Somervell 8th lord of Plane fell into debt and sold the castle and barony Plane became a farm and mill, the tower and manor ruined.
1746 While Bonnie Prince Charlie lay ill for 3 weeks in Bannockburn house his royal guard was billeted at the castle.
1908 Sir David Menzies restored the tower adding an Edwardian crown room.
1991 The Patrick Wright family started the present restoration.
1997 Restoration is completed in the manor house and family home. The castle is now in two separate self-catering rental accommodation.

It is also rumoured that there is a secret tunnel under the castle leading the way to Stirling castle.

Thought I'd stick that in as my girlfriend is a Plean girl.

Another executive twin room

An executive twin room used as business accommodation in the week can also be a perfect base for craft activity at the weekend.

This room is in soothing yellow tones that befit the magnolias in the pictures above each bed. What is not soothing are the creeky floorboards that lie below a not very nice carpet...

This final montage in the biopic of my life to mark my 40th year covers the turn of the new Century to present day. If the 1990's are to be regarded as my halcyon days then this first decade of the 21st Century will be remembered for some of the best and worst days of my life…ever!

This series of biopic montages is not intended to be a comprehensive autobiography, but I believe it does portray a realistic snapshot of my life through various stages leading inexorably to the point I am at now.

If you believe as I do in a sense of fate then the final chapter in this story has already been written and it is simply a matter of turning the page to fulfil destiny, but you know despite my innate sense of logic and realism, at heart I am forever the optimist so you can be damned sure that chapter won’t be closed until every last paragraph, sentence, letter and word has been read!

In the enduring words of the Great Bard himself, William Shakespeare

“Whats past is prologue!”

All the pics in this montage were taken with either an Olympus, various Fuji Finepix or Samsung S1065 digital cameras, that I've edited mostly with a faded 1960’s effect and resized on Picnik before painstakingly assembling the montage in MS Paint.

Statue of Moses Fenech.

Malta: You’re looking at the bronze statue of Moses Fenech, at St. Paul’s Bay in Paradise Street. Moses was one of the first pioneers that build Malta's tourism industry. The bronze statue it was unveiled on Wednesday, September 27th 2007, by tourism and culture minister Francis Zammit Dimech. The statue, was cast in Italy, and was commissioned by Fenech's children and sculpted by Anton Agius. It will stand at the top of Parades Street as a memento to Moses Fenech's philanthropic works. Moses Fenech, however, is best remembered for the hotels he owned; the Paradise Bay at Cirkewwa and the Golden Sands at Military Bay, which he renamed Golden Bay. Moses was my uncle in which I did spend some time with him and Aunt Stella during the 50s when I was in the Royal Air Force in Malta.

Steve and Sam on the monorail at Disney World

I forget the name of the hotel we stayed in, but it was right on the grounds and the monorail ran right through the lobby. That's definitely the way to do Disney World -- no parking hassles, no long walk in from the parking lot, no forgetting where you parked. Best of all, with little kids, we'd go there in the morning, head back to the hotel after lunch when the kids pooped out, and then go back late afternoon when everyone else was pooping out and leaving -- and get a couple hours (unless the park was closing early for some special event, which it did a few times while we were there) of relatively smaller crowds and relatively less-intense sun.
